Walter Van Beirendonck, bekannt als Teil der Antwerp Six, hat auf der Pitti Uomo in Florenz seine Spring/Summer Collection „eXplicit” vorgestellt.

Der Designer betrachtet Mode nicht als rein dekoratives Medium, sondern kommuniziert damit seine Gesellschaftsbetrachtung und seine Zukunftsvisionen. Humor ist dabei essentieller Bestandteil. Inspiration findet er unter Anderem in Politik, Ökologie, Kunst und Technologie. Titel vergangener Kollektionen sind:

I have a love and hate relationship with fashion. I’m not so fond of the superficial way that fashion is dealing with. For me it’s very important that there is always like a content, that there is always something that should be told. I don’t accept that things should be done only for selling. After the years of marketing, which were very dominant in fashion, I think we definitely need another injection of creativity. Creativity will make the difference in the future. I’m sure that buyers and the audience and the wearers a certain moment will go again for the unique and special. And that’s what I’m believing for the future.
