Christa Palazzolo
Aufgepasst, es geht mal wieder in die Fine-Arts-Ecke. Christa Palazzolo ist der Name dieser talentierten texanischen Künstlerin. Sie konzentriert sich in ihren momentanen Arbeiten auf die Auseinandersetzung mit Abfällen im menschlichen Alltag, also mit der Beziehung vom modernen Individuum zu Müll. Auf großformatigen Leinwänden entstehen dann diese eindrucksvollen Ölgemälde.
My current series focuses on humans and their waste. To address the everyday trash we are responsible for, I merge classical portraiture with literal examples of waste in the environment. Capturing an isolated subject with an uncomfortable disposition in an unlikely situation, such as wearing these products fashionably, creates an awkward visual. – C.P.
My intention is to incite disapproval within the viewer’s mind, questioning the relationship between subject and trash. By using common modern-day products as props to relate to the onlooker’s dependencies and by creating large-scale paintings of these scenarios, communication with the audience is immediate and personal, inviting further inquiry as to whether this waste is a necessity in modern life or a vehicle to destroy it. – C.P.
